What to Prepare Before a Recruiter Conversation

Bring a short, accurate summary of your experience and availability so your questions can focus on the opportunity.

Write a short introduction

Prepare a few sentences explaining your role, relevant work settings and what you are looking for next. Use facts you can discuss comfortably, not a memorized sales pitch. If you are exploring several options, say so; the conversation can then distinguish current preferences from commitments you have already made.

Bring a usable availability outline

Have your calendar available and identify actual dates and start-to-end windows. Include existing commitments, unavailable periods and travel limits. “Flexible” can mean different things to different people. A clear outline gives the recruiter something concrete to discuss without treating every blank space in your calendar as availability.

Describe experience with appropriate detail

Consider which past settings and responsibilities relate to the specific opening. Explain what you did and where you would need orientation or clarification. You do not need a resident story to demonstrate experience. Keep patient information and confidential facility details out of notes prepared for a recruiting conversation.

Keep document questions organized

Make a private list of documents you have, items that may need updating and questions about submission instructions. Requirements can vary by role and assignment. Ask what is relevant to the opportunity and which approved channel to use before sending copies or entering sensitive information anywhere.

Ask about the next decision

Useful questions include: Is this a specific opening or an introductory conversation? Which details remain unconfirmed? Who will explain the written terms? What action should I take next? Record the answer and responsible contact so an expression of interest does not become an assumed assignment.

Send a clear update if plans change

If your availability or contact details change after the conversation, use the agreed communication channel and identify the specific change. Med Plus serves Pennsylvania, with Southwestern Pennsylvania as its home market; an exact location and realistic travel window are more helpful than a broad statement that you can work anywhere.
